Help me to help Tashs Bashes!

My Story

More than one in three of us will develop cancer at some point in our lives and each year dedicated scientists at Cancer Research UK get closer to beating it. New technologies such as advances in genetics are bringing us ever closer to major breakthroughs. Cancer Research UK are the largest charitable funder of cancer research in the world, funding nearly half of the UKs cancer research, including the life-saving work of over 4000 scientists, doctors and nurses fighting cancer on all fronts. Every year more that 49,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, making it the most common form of cancer. That's one in eight women that will develop it in their lifetime. While these numbers are shocking there have been massive leaps made in the last 40 years. During the 1970s around 5 out of 10 women with breast cancer survived beyond 5 years. Now that figure stands at 8 out of 10. Our friend Tash has been fighting cancer since 2012 and unfortunately now has secondary cancer, so will become the 2 out 10 that will not survive. Tash's Bashes was born out of her inspriraton and desire to fight this unforgiving disease. Please go to www.tashsbashes.co.uk to read about Tash and all of the fantastic fundraising that is going on and how you can get involved to support the fight against cancer. So last year I decided at the beginning of this year to say 'Yes' to everything, face my fears and push myself to do challenges that normally I would say a definite no to. I finally got myself to a point that I can run further than a mile (which as a non-runner was hard!), so why not do the Spartan race my friend Caroline said!! 5k with unknown obstacles along the way! I completed this with just a cut in my leg and a few bruises to show for it! Then it was on to the Wolf Run, I have to say it could not have been muddier or more fun!! This year I am taking myself completely out of my comfort zone and will be doing a tandem sky dive on the 7th February (rescheduled from last year) - Did I mention that I am ABSOLUTELY scared of heights?!! Then so far the half marathon in Edinburgh in May! I am sure that there is more to come! I want to Thank you in advance for any support that you can give to support me to support Tash's Bashes! Your help will literally encourage me to take the leap of faith out of the plane! Rach xx

CAUSE

Breast cancer

With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
