Running to Stop Cancer in its Tracks

My Story

Everyone is effected by cancer at some point in their life, either personnally or through experiences with friends and family. In support of our mutual friend who has been effected by the disease, we have decided to undertake the 2014 Heb 3 Challenge and fundraise for this worthy Edinburgh based project. The project focuses on preventing cancer from spreading to other parts of the body, finding ways to stop cancer in its tracks and improve survival for patients. For more information on the work carried out as part of this project please refer to the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre website: http://www.ecrc.ed.ac.uk/. The Heb 3 Challenge is not for the faint hearted; participants are to complete at least three of the five Western Isles Half Marathons - Stornoway, Harris, Benbecula, Barra or Skye in any one year. We shall be participating in the following races: 24th May, Stornoway Half Marathon 14th June, Skye Half Marathon 5th July, Harris Half Marathon Your donations will help to drive us and keep us motivated whilst running up hills and through mud, in the wind and rain (and that's just summer in the Hebrides nevermind winter training), whilst supporting the meaningful research undertaken at the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre.

Professor Margaret Frame

One of the biggest challenges in successfully treating cancer is preventing it from spreading to other parts of the body. Professor Margaret Frame's research is revealing opportunities to stop cancer in its tracks, developing new treatments that could improve survival for patients.
