Sean is running a marathon for skin cancer

My Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. I'm running the London Marathon in support of this fantastic skin cancer project being carried out by Cancer Research UK. Skin cancer is one of the fastest rising cancers in the UK. New drugs are giving hope to patients, but the cancer often becomes resistant to treatments designed to treat it. This project aims to better understand how this happens, and help scientists to create more effective treatments in order to stay one step ahead of the disease. Many of you will know people that have suffered from skin cancer, and I'm running it in memory of my good friend Elissa's (standing on the left of the photo) mum Ginny who sadly lost her battle last year, and my grandfather Jerry who also had to deal with the disease. Ginny had treatment on and off over the last four years of her life, and would never turn down helping out in the multiple clinical trials she was asked to join. My granddad also received treatment for his skin cancer that helped him in later life. So I am incredibly grateful for anything that you are able to contribute to this very worthy project. You may also be aware that Mo 'Mo-bot' Farah is also making his London Marathon debut this year. Now I once raced against Mo as a junior in the London Mini Marathon, and you might say that I was marginally beaten by the great man. So if anyone would like to see my comeback, and support (or laugh at) me running the distance on the 13th of April, please feel free. Thanks very much. Sean 'O-bot' O'Grady
