Pregnancy Associated Breast Cancer Awareness
Pregnancy Associated Breast Cancer (PABC) while rare, effects around 10% of breast cancers in women under 40 years old or around 1/3000 pregnant women. PABC is defined as breast cancer found during or 1 year post-partum, the aim of this campaign is to spread awareness amongst health professionals (gynecologists, midwifes) and pregnant mothers ensure they are aware of the risk and to ensure that any changes detected during pregnancy or post-partum are taken seriously as breast cancers detected during this period tend to be larger, more aggressive and have a poorer survival outcome. CAUSE
Professor Andrea Rockall
Over 170,000 women are diagnosed with cancer every year. Professor Andrea Rockall is a consultant radiologist, studying whether new scanning techniques could improve the way doctors assess womb and cervical cancer. This in turn could help them select the best treatment, improving the outlook for patients.
