The fundraising continues, with a new target

As many of you will know, Neil sadly passed away on 21st January 2012 after a long and very brave battle with cancer. His family and friends are keeping the fund open for new donations which you make here or by sending a cheque payable to "Neil Adam Cancer Research Fund" .It is also the place to sponsor our fundraising events. Our list of fundraising efforts continues to grow. In addition to the dinner dance we've had Chris Jones & Friends, Andy & Robert Kerr, Emily Adam, Henrietta Cox and Anne & Becky Gibson all doing fundraising events that have contributed hugely to the total, not forgetting the amazing £5,000 from McCormick C Day of course.

Neil's story written March 2011 : In June 2010 I was admitted to hospital in Turkey with severe backache. After surgery I was diagnosed with a malignant spinal tumour in the 12th vertebra. The tumour could not be removed entirely and so I under went more surgery in the UK during July, with referal to a consultant Sarcoma specialist in Cheltenham. Further tests were done at 2 UK sarcoma centres of excellence and the results confirmed I had developed a very rare form of nerve sheath tumour, only 10 cases reported in the world. Radiology was unsuccessful and I was told the outcome was terminal within a year. I lost the use of my legs in November and both my bowels and bladder are affected badly. I am paraplegic from the waist down and am now confined to a wheelchair.
Because of the rarity of this tumour the specialists cannot be sure that it may or may not travel anywhere else in my body , which would affect my life expectancy. So this research in Edinburgh is topical and a project I would like to support with your help.
