Half Ironman - kev said I could do it!
In 2012 my amazing brother in law and I rode Alp D'Huez together to raise money for his local cancer centre in the UK where he was receiving chemotherapy treatment for oesophageal cancer. We were immensely grateful for the donations recieved and this has helped fund more chemotherapy chairs and increase vital equipment needed to treat patients. Later that year Kev lost his battle with cancer. Sport was such a huge part of kevs life having run marathons, competed in ironman and a keen time trial cyclist. It was his dedication to helping others achieve their goals and the support, encouragement and advice he always offered that made him such an exceptional and special person. Kev left behind his beloved wife (my beautiful sister) and two young boys Michael and Luke. In honour of his memory they have set up the 'doitforkev' campaign raising awareness and money for patients and families affected by oesophageal cancer. I will be participating in the Cairns half ironman in June this year to raise funds for this truly amazing cause and I hope you can spare a small donation in honour of such a great man and his family.
CAUSE

Oesophageal cancer rates are rising in the UK, and it's one of the hardest cancers to treat. It’s the sixth most common cause of cancer death and survival rates are poor. Help fund one of Cancer Research UK's top priorities – finding ways to improve survival from the disease.
