We planted 5000 bluebells on Sunday 11 March 2012, to create a Bluebell Wood in Beacon Park, Lichfield, Staffs.
Our aim is to raise awareness of the work of the charity, specifically the Birmingham Research Centre, while raising much-needed funds to continue this life-saving work.
We had over 120 people help with the planting. Donations and dedications are gratefully received! If we hit our target, we hope to do it again next year (at least to add to it).
We will update this page with photos of the bluebells when they come into flower in the Spring, so please keep coming back to check on our progress!
If you would like to donate "off-line", please email tamworthlichfield4cruk@yahoo.co.uk or call 0779 083 7601 for details of where to send cash/ cheques to. Thank you.

We were even concerned we'd run out early at one point, when we had a queue of people waiting to sign in! Some people stayed all day, bringing their picnics and enjoying the spring sunshine.
The weather was fantastic - we didn't expect to be worrying about keeping the chocolate biscuits from melting when we planned the event. :)
Thanks to all who came along for your support - our total's over £1000 now, with the cash and cheque donations yet to be reflected on the website.
Well, it's two years since we came up with the idea of doing this and we're finally here! Can't believe how much stuff we need, but have it all packed now and just need to get it all in the cars. (Yes, cars - it's that much stuff!) Not least to be pa...

Can't believe how much stuff we need, but have it all packed now and just need to get it all in the cars. (Yes, cars - it's that much stuff!)
Not least to be packed is our picnic - a day in the park isn't the same without a picnic, is it?
Hope we get lots of people come along - it's sounding promising from the people we've been speaking to... :)
How lovely that Chris is supporting us through his birthday, with donations to our project from friends and family! Thank you and we wish you a very happy 40th! x...

The bluebells arrived today! 5,000 hyacinthoides non-scripta (Native English Bluebells). We were keen to use native bluebells, not the common invader Spanish ones.
These bluebells were cultivated in the UK (near Nottingham) and when they flower will have a lovely smell.
They may be a little "shy" in the first year, but given a year to settle, it's going to be a fantastic carpet and we hope to be able to add to it year on year.
The weather's looking good, fingers crossed, so we're hoping to have lots of people turn up to help us with the planting!

We came up with the idea of creating a semi-permanent feature to raise awareness of the charity's work in 2010, not long after our group formed. It's taken a while to agree a concept with the council, but everyone's been really supportive and we're now really excited that we'll be planting 5,000 bulbs on Sunday 11 March 2012!
