Fight against cancer
This annual bike ride was set up in the memory of Mr Bijay Khela, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 41 after 4 year battle with cancer. He tackled his illness with tremendous courage, unwavering humour and an optimism that has become a lifelong inspiration to us all. This year a group of approx 20 cyclists will be cycling from molineaux to Liverpool, where the ride will end at the hillsborough memorial, we will be taking a route of 96 miles to honour the 96 that died, the money raised over the 4 previous bike rides enabled us to by equipment for a local hospital in Wolverhampton that had treated and cared for Bijay. We also donated money to Macmillan nurses and the Promise Dreams charity that that helps seriously and terminally ill children fulfil their wishes. We also through the India Housing Project helped build new homes for 30 of the poorest families in India giving them safe and secure accommodation and in 2011 we also supported the ms society, cancer research and nspcc, the steve bull foundation and marie curie cancer, we have raised over £116000 with the support of freinds and family over the last 4 years. This year we will be cycling to liverpool, in the month of may and Pete Khela will also be walking from wolves to London in June our nominated charities this year will be cancer research, promise dreams and the steve bull foundation. please give generously.
