In memory of Bill Brown
My father Bill developed cancer of the jaw in 2010. After a long operation part of his jaw was removed and replaced with bone from his hip. After the operation he had no teeth and because he had no feeling in half of his tongue, he never ate solid food again. But the thing that frustrated him most was his slurred speech. My Dad was a sociable man who was well liked by all who met him. He had a gentle reassurance when you talked to him about your troubles, and he never judged your efforts. Nine months after the operation and radio and chemo therapy my Dad died. This illness was crushing and a once fit and active man was turned into an old man and I can only image how worse it would have been without pain relief. Bill Brown will be forever in the hearts of those who knew him as the man who listened to others and cared. We need to understand this disease to kill it. Please donate to cancer research so that we can fight it together.
